First Singaporean Casino now open for business

sentosaIt has been a long time coming but finally Singapore’s first casino, Resorts World Sentosa, opened its door on Chinese New Year as this is the most auspicious day in the Chinese calendar. With a second casino to follow later in the year, Singapore is being touted as the next Asian poker hot bed. Singapore is hoping to lure away the high rollers from gambling hub Macau and attract more wealthy visitors to boost it revenue which was severely hit by the global financial downturn. Local residents, however, incur a steep $70 admission fee. Apparently this is a part of the government’s strategy to discourage the local public to gamble and warn of the danger of addiction.
