Full Tilt Repayment Date Set

The time to return US Full Tilt players’ money – almost three years.

The Garden City Group posted on that now that the deadline for petitions is over they are reviewing the petitions.  They went on to post:

“We expect payments to be made with respect to such Petitions with confirmed balances by March 31, 2014.”

According to GCG, over 40,000 players filed petitions. The refund date is two weeks short of the third anniversary of Black Friday.

A few special groups are still in the process of submitting petitions.

Those groups include:

Full Tilt Team Pros who did not play with FTP funds

Affiliates, who can reclaim the portion of their balances that are from deposits and wins, but not the affiliate portion.

The major Full Tilt Pros appear to be left waiting. Those are players whose bankroll was substantially made up of payments from Full Tilt.

According to the website:

“For players identified as Pros, it has been determined that the only Pros who will be deemed ineligible to participate in this remission process are Team Full Tilt players and other players who were playing with funds from FTP or who were compensated by FTP to play on the FTP site. “

“GCG is working with the Government to review the status of players who have been designated as ineligible Pros. Once this review is completed, for any such players who are deemed to be eligible to participate, GCG will email the players to provide instructions regarding the Petition process.”

The eligible pros and former affiliate players should be receiving emails shortly and will have thirty days to file their petitions.

PokerStars Backstage Offers VIP Concert Experience

PokerStars has launched the PokerStars Backstage series which awards tournament winners with concert tickets and VIP Experiences at various O2 venues.

The best part of the Backstage for the players is the buy-ins. All of the 22 tournaments are either free rolls or have a micro buy-in of £0.10.  The tournaments are also limit to only 250 entrants, meaning that players don’t have to fight their way through massive fields as is often the case with free-to-play and low buy in events. Registration for each event begins 2 hours prior to the tournament start.

Most of the concerts are at the O2 Academy Brixton. The concerts included in the promotion are Primal Scream, Jimmy Eat World, Placebo, Imagine Dragons, Rudimental, Tenacious D, Basement Jaxx, Crystal Fighters, Disclosure, and Editors.

The free-to-play tournaments award winners with concert tickets. The £0.10 events feature VIP Experience package which include VIP area access, drink tabs, special seating, and may include other extras like meet and greets with the band, sound-check passes, transportation and accommodations.

All of the weekly tournaments are open to all PokerStars players with no other qualifications needed. The tournaments can be found under the Tourneys>Regional menu on the PokerStars main lobby.

PlayStation 4s on Party Poker

Poker players that are trying to get their hands on the new Playstation 4, have the chance to get pick one up during all of November on Party Poker.

The site is giving away at least one a day every day in November. The new PS4 will be released on November 15.

The best price: zero. Party Poker is running daily freerolls with the new PS4 for the winners.

Party Poker is splashing the pot with PS4’s in cash tournaments as well.

The daily $11 buy-in tournament has a PS4 added every day in November. The tournament still has a 4K or 8K guarantee. (The guarantee changes on different days.)

All of the Major Sunday tournaments also have Playstation 4’s added for the champion.  Which means that the $5K 6-Max Rebuy, the $10K Super Bounty, and the $200K Guaranteed, gets a hot game in addition to a bunch of cash.

Players in NJ, may even get to participate as Party Poker is one on the sites just granted a license to offer real money online poker in the state.  Online play is scheduled to go live on November 21.

Riess Catches Cards on Way to Main Event Championship

Ryan Riess is the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion.

After entering heads up play with a 20 million chip deficit, Riess continued the play that actually got him to heads up play; he was basically hit by the deck.

Vegas VIP host, Jay Farber played a good game against Riess, including one successful bluff and a lucky turn card when he was all in, but Farber was basically card dead all night. Even Doyle Brunson tweeted that with Reiss catching so many hands “Farber hasn’t had a chance.”

Despite the lack of hands, the two battled heads up for almost four hours.

The big question is what type of Main Event Champion will Riess be?

Riess is 23, and a regular on the WSOP circuit event, with some decent cashes in circuit events. Before the final table started the odds were against him, as most of the books had him in the middle of the pack.

Not to take anything away from the champion, navigating a field of over 6,000 players requires skill, but honestly we still don’t know if Riess can play without getting a hand. Making 3 bets with 8 high is substantially easier when you are heads up with a 12 to 1 chip lead.

In the pre-game interview segment, Riess simply stated that he was going to win because he was the best player at the table.  The comment stuck Antonio Esfandari as a bit outrageous, especially considering the final table field.

Poker needs all the good champions it can get. Hopefully Riess will step up and prove that he is a good player and a better ambassador for the game.

MicroMillions 6 Announced

PokerStars has long been the tournament player’s home. The yearly SCOOP and WCOOP draw huge fields and big paydays.  PokerStars other marquee tournament is coming back in mid-November with the kickoff of MicroMillions 6.

MicroMillions boasts huge fields and nice guarantees spread over an amazing one hundred events over the ten day series.

No matter what your bankroll you can find a couple of events. The lowest buy-in event is .11 with a 15K GTD. Most of the events on the schedule are in the $1 to 3.30 range. The $22.00 Main Event, which starts on November 24, is the highest buy-in event and features a $1 million guarantee with $150 guaranteed to the winner.

The event is heavy in No Limit Hold’em events, but also features some of the newer tournament variants including; Ante Up, PLO, Stud, Badugi, Draw, 5-Card Omaha, Courchevel, Razz, 8 Game and HORSE.

While there are a couple of 5K guarantees, most of the events have guarantees in the 15K to 30K range.  Eight events have guarantees of $100K or more.

Last year online player “stygher” came out on top in a field of 59,213 runners and collected $160,726 for his Main Event victory, which is an amazing return on a $22 investment.

Negreanu Repeats as Player of the Year

Daniel Negreanu added to his poker legacy at the World Series of Poker Europe by winning his sixth bracelet and being named the WSOP Player of the Year.

At the conclusion of the WSOP in Las Vegas, Negreanu tweeted that he was ready to hit the road for six weeks of poker and that he had one goal, capturing the 2013 Player of the Year title.

Negreanu failed to cash in the early events.  His main event looked promising as he steadily moved up in the standings, but was eliminated in 21st place.

Fortunately he busted in time to enter the High Rollers Event.  To capture the Player of the Year title he needed an eight place finish.  One of those “if only” hands occurred midway through the tournament.  Negreanu folded Jack-10 on a board that ran out 2-K-A-4-Q giving three players sets of Aces, Kings and Queens.

When play was 10 handed Negreanu had just 21 big blinds and described the tournament as watching a “sudden death” match.  The shorter stacks were eliminated and Negreanu was assured the Player of the Year title and went on to win the event.

Negreanu is the first player to repeat as Player of the Year, a title he first took in 2004.

In addition to his POY title, his victory placed him third on the all-time tournament money list, behind Antonio Esfandari and Sam Trickett, the first and second place finishers in the Big One for One Drop event.

Hollywood Poker Open Back for Season 2

The Hollywood Poker Open (HPO) will be back for a second season.

The first regional series will be a 10 day event the Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg, IL and will kick off on November 15.  The series features 25 events with buy-ins from $80 to $675. At least two of the events will qualify players for seats at the HPO Championship.

Penn National Gaming hosts the events which culminate in the HPO Championship which is held at the M Resort Casino & Spa in Las Vegas. Last year, Penn National sent more the 200 qualifiers from 21 of their casinos to participate and this year expect to send more.

Penn says that this year they plan Regional (10 day events) as well as Local events, which will last 3 or 4 days. They expect to top last year’s number of qualifiers.

The National Championship will be held once again at the M in June of 2014 and will have a $500,000 guarantee. Last year the prize pool totaled $1.4 million as an additional 400 plus players registered for the event.

The Hollywood Poker Open offers players with smaller bankrolls shots at big wins and this year has added the king of parlays as their player spokesman. Chris Moneymaker has signed on with the event.  Moneymaker, who turned his $40 buy-in into a $2 million payday, said “I’m really happy to be representing the Hollywood Poker Open. I like what they’ve built here in their first year and I’m hoping we can make this year’s experience even better.”  Moneymaker will appear in the ads for the events and participate in event meet and greets.

Penn National promises to announce more events shortly on the website, and on Twitter at @hwpokeropen.

888 Poker Doing Something Right – Revenues Jump

The 888 Group must be doing something right, something which may well equate to a silver bullet when it comes to successfully tackling the current massive downturn in the online poker industry. Even as the overall traffic numbers continue to drop every month, 888 Poker has registered a massive increase of revenue in the first half of 2012, logging its most profitable 6-month period since its re-focus on non-US markets in 2006. Yes, you have indeed read that right. It’s 888 Poker we’re talking about and not the 888 product stable in general, where one product may well end up buoying another, thus skewing the individual profit-picture.
To put things into perspective: the only other online poker operator which periodically manages to increase its traffic these days is PokerStars, the top online poker authority. These traffic spikes are generally rather smallish and temporary as they’re mostly due to some hot promotions or online series which draw increased player interest. In contrast, the traffic increase that 888 Poker saw over the same period of 2011 was a massive 63%. That is not to say 888 Poker is anywhere near PokerStars traffic-wise, but it is a significant accomplishment nonetheless.
According to 888 CEO Brian Mattingley, the impressive growth is due to the renewed focus of the company on core competencies.
The company has also aggressively pursued licenses in newly regulated online poker markets like Spain. As a matter of fact, 888 Poker revenues have been doubled in Spain since the launch of the online poker product there.
Even as its revenues are increasing in other markets, 888 Poker is gearing up for a return to the US market: to that end, the company has signed a partnership agreement with WMS to give them an online poker platform when real money online gaming is finally legalized in the US.
The deals offered at rakemeback are positively the best rakeback deals available online. Those bored of square rakeback can now register for generous poker prop deals too.
